The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many industries, and business trade shows have seen significant changes in their operations. 2020 signaled government imposed public health measures, restricted business access, and unprecedented social distancing rules. However, trade shows will resume as the pandemic subsides and the world returns to normal.

What Will the Post-Pandemic Trade Show Landscape Look Like?

In 2023, the post-pandemic tradeshow landscape is going to be very different. Events may be smaller and more localized, with digital or hybrid events becoming increasingly popular. To reduce the need for physical contact, event organizers may also implement contactless payment methods, digital event passes, and other touchless technologies.

In-person meets will likely include more online elements such as virtual booths, live streaming, and interactive content. There may be more emphasis on virtual features such as 3D rendering, augmented reality, and virtual reality to create immersive experiences. As such, trade show organizers in 2023 must balance their events’ physical and digital aspects to create a successful and safe experience for their attendees. Thankfully, in the Northwest, we do not see these changes.

Although our focus is the beautiful Northwest, providing an update on other shows taking place might be helpful. There has been massive consolidation at a regional level. To that end, SEBWA, SABWA, & MABWA has dissolved, creating a new association – ASCBWA. ASCBWA covers a larger area with one annual meeting. Regional shows are imperative to education, industry awareness, and upcoming trends. Accordingly, if you can support or participate in other associations, it presents a chance to meet new people, share experiences, and see just how extraordinary and fantastic the NWBWA is!
